Well January is already half way over, and so far I am on a roll of not posting anything. It's not all my fault though. I thought that as we entered 2012 life would calm down a bit and give us some time to catch our breath... boy was I wrong!

Josh's superiors decided to send him on a brief deployment to receive his promotion. Once this was officially planned Austin and I decided to drive back up to Ohio to spend this otherwise alone time, with family.

Right before we began out trip up north we decided to buy a house. (This was not a last minute decision, just one that we made quicker than we planned).

Now I am in the works of planning our trip back to GA so that we can spend some time with Josh, close on the house and make some more house related decisions.

After that we, Austin and I, will head back to Ohio while Josh is in Ranger School.

As you can see life is by NO means settling down.

Maybe come summer?... we hope so : )

With all that said, if you are in the Northeast Ohio areas (Cleveland-Akron) and wanting some updated family photos, engagement photos to celebrate your holiday season betrothal or maybe youre getting ready to welcome a new member to your family... CALL ME UP!

Happy New Year!

With the holiday season behind us and the new year at our fingertips, its time to get back to work. I am not complaining though. While I have loved and cherished every second of the past few months with my family, and I am always sad when the Christmas decorations come down, I am ready for my first clients of 2012!

So all my beloved Buckeyes, listen up:

Jaclyn Davis Photography will be temporarily be relocating until summer 2012! Most of you know the hubs is in the military and he will be "out of town" for quite some time. While he is away training Austin and I are traveling north again to spend the next couple months enjoying time with family and friends back home.

Have no fear Columbus, JDP will be back again before you know it. We will be back before June and the time will surely fly by so shoot me an email or a phone call to reserve your summer and fall sessions now. Beat the peak season rush!!

Because it's Friday and everyone deserves a good laugh to take them into the weekend:

I thought the "caution coffee is hot" warnings were bad enough...

I am writing this down to use on my kids. Genius.

Must have been one heck of a camo paint job...

The Raina family

Last weekend I had the pleasure of taking some shots for the Raina family : ) Arwyn, Adi and their 16 month old, Asha were a blast and make such a beautiful family! Like most 16 month olds, Asha definitely kept us all on our toes and just wanted to run EVERYWHERE so we kept her entertained with some fountains, leaves and, of course, the Wiggles : )

Can you believe it's already November?? I sure can't. There are so many wonderful things to look forward to in the next few months and I definitely do not want to wish the rest of this year away but I can't help but look forward to 2012 for Jaclyn Davis Photography.

I recently had one of those nights when you are so exhausted and ready to catch some much needed zzzzz's and as soon as my head hit the pillow my mind started racing. I just could not turn it off! I'm on a journey of trying to figure out where exactly I belong in the photography world and what my purpose is. Needless to say I have been praying about it, a LOT, and I guess the Lord decided to answer my prayers that night. While I was desperately just wanting to sleep, I was completely invested in everything He was showing me.

One of the greatest messages He gave to me was that I can't do EVERYTHING and, honestly, I don't want to. While I have a deep passion for helping helping others capture their memories and create some beautiful photos for them to cherish for years to come, I have my own family that I am even more passionate about. I need to take control of my time management between my business and my family NOW before it all becomes "work". With that said, I will be re-evaluating my menu of services for 2012. There will be a few new things added and some things currently offered that may not be next year. (More details to come as we close in on the new year)

In addition to new services, I am excited to announce that Jaclyn Davis Photography will be adding a print shop! I have gained quite a collection of photos taken, from all over the place, that I have looked at periodically and been saving for when I have that perfect space in our house to hang. Then  I thought, why should I keep them to myself? SO stay tuned for more to come on that as well!

I can't, and don't want to : ), give all of the details away just yet but, until then, lets have a GIVE AWAY! Want a FREE session and cd of ALL of your images??? Good, because I want to give you one : ) Here's how you enter:

For everyone in the Columbus/Phenix City/Northeast Ohio areas:
Find Jaclyn Davis Photography's business page on Facebook, click "Like", share it on your page and let your friends know they can win too! When YOUR friends "like" Jaclyn Davis Photography, YOU get a point! The person with the most referrals WINS : ) The winner will be announced November 26 and your time begins....... Now! : )

Brewster family

Introducing the Brewster family! I had the pleasure of meeting Tammy at our church's craft fair just a few weeks ago and am so thankful to her for choosing your truly to take their photos! They are a great looking, and FUN, family : )

We met up in the middle of downtown Columbus only to find some hectic traffic and parking situations and TONS of families decked out in their costumes for some Halloween festivities. Luckily we able to find some spots with minimal distractions... although one spot was a little less pretty after being used by a tiny tyke as a urinal. Oh well, nature calls.

Standing around and getting your picture taken on a  beautiful Saturday afternoon isnt usually at the top of any guys list but after a few laughs,  and some small talk, I think we got some pretty great photos.

Enjoy!

What to wear?

One of the most frequently asked questions photographers are asked when booking a session is "What should I wear?", and it is an important one! What you and your family wear s could create distractions in your photos and take away the focus from all of your beautiful and smiling faces... which is what we want to capture and highlight : )

When planning your wardobe make sure you pick items that reflect YOU. There is no need to over dress and, please, dont under dress. Choose clothing that you are comfortable in. When you arent comfortable in what you are wearing it shows on your face.

Coordinating your families attire does NOT mean you all have to be wearing the same color shirt and pants. You can do so if you choose, but throwing in some variety helps each family member stand out individually.

To help you out a little more I have found some visual aids. Enjoy!
